Gaby Schofield

Gaby Schofield (b. 1996, Hertfordshire, UK)

Schofield uses painting as a mesmeric and reflective act, with gestures laid down in response to what happened before. As an organic process, imagery remains in flux, morphing between something flowing and spacious to something more tight and graphic. Themes gravitate towards the body and natural worlds: a climbing vine, the softness of flesh or patterns in leaves. She plays with the idea that biological forms can mimic one another or be mistaken for something else, as something universal.
